Settling into San Francisco

SFDC

After securing our follow on funding from MOVAC we’ve now started the exciting process of building out our USA sales and marketing team. As well as starting my relocation to SFO to help lead this effort.

The vibe here is amazing and we have been genuinely excited at the calibre of people we’ve been able to recruit to our already amazing team. In the last 4 weeks we’ve taken our USA team from 1 to 5 people, including the appointment of a VP Sales and CMO - both of which bring a huge amount of experience and previous successes to the table. All will be based at Kiwi Landing Pad.

Personally I’m going to be spending 80% of my time here going forward and have found a great apartment in Pacific Heights to base myself from, it’s a 5 minute walk from Polk Street, which has a ton of restaurants and bars - which has lead to me cooking about once per week. A personal teething problem for me, has been for the first time in my life is having to take the bus to work each day - yes a first world problem I know - but as anyone from Christchurch knows, you drive everywhere and get very use to that freedom.

Being tech obsessed, some handy apps I’ve adopted in the last month are:

Lastly, the best part about being here I find is the entrepreneurial vibe that is in the air. They really aren’t afraid to push for big ideas and the whole place is set up to reward the success that comes with it (no tall poppy syndrome to be found). This was made apparently clear last week when Salesforce.com’s Dreamforce conference was on, it pulled 135,000 people into the city, essentially a who’s-who of the tech world arrived for what was in a lot of ways a celebration of Salesforce’s success to date and future potential.
